How to apply perfume and Whether you use it depends on each person! It is sometimes said that wearing perfume reveals a little bit of your personality...

For us, it's also a way to embody our desires and accompany us in all circumstances. For a special occasion or everyday use, there are easy tips to ensure your perfume lasts well on your skin.

Choosing the right areas to apply your perfume

It's all about simple, everyday actions! Coco Chanel said you should perfume yourself in all the places you wanted to be kissed. That's almost it! To leave a real trail behind you and ensure the perfume adheres well, we recommend spraying your perfume on your "pulse points." These are simply areas where the skin is very thin and releases heat. These include the neck, wrists, behind the ears, the nape of the neck, ankles, and more. Don't forget your joints either, because with every movement, you release a subtle scent that's sure to have an impact! Whether you spray it on your clothes, directly on your hair, or on your skin, the main thing is to make this ritual a moment of pleasure.

If you don't want to focus on a specific area, the most common technique remains the cloud technique: you spray the perfume in front of you and walk through the cloud so that you are evenly impregnated with the scent. In fact, there is no real "way to apply perfume"; you invent your own approach, depending on your habits and desires at the time.

Perfume can also be sprayed on clothing, for a better diffusion of the fragrance… but this is not recommended for all textiles! Some fibers react less well than others. This is the case for synthetic fibers, which release fewer facets of a perfume than natural fibers! Silk, cashmere, velvet or cotton are the best allies for perfume. It is therefore highly recommended to perfume your textiles and this will allow you to find a pleasant smell on your favorite sweaters (a pro tip for facing winter)! This also works on sheets and household linens…

Store your perfume in good conditions

Proper perfume storage is also an important factor for proper fragrance vaporization, especially if you're storing it for more than a year. Light, heat, and humidity aren't ideal for properly preserving fragrance. It's therefore recommended to store your perfume in a drawer, away from moisture, light, and heat... ideally! It's best to avoid storing your precious bottles in the bathroom and opt for a room with a more controlled temperature (at Bon Parfumeur, we prefer the refrigerator!).

The longevity of a perfume also depends on your skin type, as well as weather conditions and temperature. We explain this in more detail in the section how to choose your perfume . Indeed, the colder it is, the more discreet the scent of the perfume will be.

Adjust the dosage according to the fragrance

As for the quantity, everyone is free to choose what they like, it's a question of taste, habit, and the effect you want to achieve! Of course, you should take into account the different olfactory families and adjust the dosage according to its concentration. An eau de Cologne (3% to 6%) is not used in the same way as an eau de parfum (7% to 20%). An eau de Cologne, which is lighter and less concentrated, will require more intense use than an eau de parfum. This also applies to eau de parfum versus eau de toilette .

To ensure your fragrance diffuses well, we advise you not to anticipate your program too much, and to reapply as much as necessary throughout the day. travel-sized perfumes are also designed for this purpose!

How you apply perfume is personal, and there is no wrong way. All that matters is the pleasure you take in applying perfume and wearing it.
